The beer name was a homage to Quentin Tarantino's cult film "Pulp Fiction". I wanted to base this piece on the film cover and old Pulp Magazines - (often referred to as "the pulps") these were inexpensive fiction magazines that were published from 1896 to the 1950s - Printed on rough and cheap wood pulp paper they had a particular texture and finish - I wanted to achieve that look with added ageing on this artwork.
Using scanned in paper textures, rough scuffed book edges and coloured with old print textures
The piece was sketched in pencil, then inked with Indian ink, scanned and coloured digitally with a Wacom tablet.
