12.3% ABV Bourbon Barrel Aged Pecan Maple Stout

A craft beer label illustration for Amundsen Brewery based in Norway.

My first thoughts for this peice for Amundsen was to recreate Edvard Munch's "The Scream" using a pecan as the main character. I quickly realised that no matter how you draw a pecan, if you put a screaming face on it it looks like a screaming ball sack! #TrueStory

I had a chat with Geoffrey from Amundsen and it was his suggestion that I create a Pecan Pie Monster which would sit along nicely with the artwork I created for the Barrel Aged Cookie Monster Artwork.

Pecan Pie always reminds me of American diners from films, and the first place in America that came into my head was New York, and more specifically Times Square - So that's where I decided to loosely set this piece.

The piece was sketched in pencil, then inked with Indian ink, scanned and coloured digitally with a Wacom tablet.
